The weather in the UK can be unpredictable. For this reason, it is a good idea to invest in some men’s wool jumpers. These can be used to layer an outfit without giving the wearer a bulky appearance. Men’s jumpers come in a huge range of different fabrics, styles, patterns and colours. It is possible to find men’s jumpers in a variety of fabrics but wool jumpers are particularly popular, as they tend to be the best quality and, looked after well, can last for many years.
Types of Wool
Merino Wool– As the name suggests, Merino wool is made from the fleece of a Merino sheep. It is high-quality and typically thinner than other types of wool.
Lambswool– Fine and incredibly soft, lambswool is very popular. The wool is usually sourced from the very finest shear.
Cashmere– One of the very best wool choices, Cashmere wool comes from Cashmere goats. Although quite expensive, high-end cashmere garments are invariably of excellent quality, as well as being lovely and soft.
Cashmere Wool Blends– Cashmere blends vary between brands. These garments contain anything from 2% Cashmere.
Knit Types
Cable– Wool jumpers made with cable knit stitch are thick and luxuriously chunky.
Fine– Perhaps the most common knit used for wool jumpers, the fine knit is perfect for plainer and more formal styles.
Ribbed– Made with a ribbed texture and either horizontal or vertical patterns, the ribbed knit jumper is perfect for casual wear.
Neckline
Men’s wool jumpers are typically designed with one of two styles of neckline: the crew or round neck and the v-neck. The style chosen may determine how they are worn and with what.
When wearing a v-neck jumper, it is best to wear another layer underneath. Choose a suitable shirt or t-shirt in a co-ordinating colour, as it will be visible. Many people then choose to wear a jacket or coat over this ensemble.
Round neck jumpers are very versatile. In the warmer months, it is not necessary to wear a layer underneath, although it is sometimes preferable when the weather is colder. If you do wish to wear something underneath, a shirt can look stylish. You can wear the collar exposed or tucked in. Again, choose colours which complement the jumper.
